International Pickle Day – The Round-Up

Today we are celebrating the 7th International Pickle Day with homemade pickles!

One of the first bloggers to post sort of an entry was Chaosküche (in German), who tried pickled peppers – but somehow didn’t get around to postig the recipe (or maybe I missed it?) The pickles look great, nonetheless.

If you are still in need of a recipe, though, Alin from Hüttenhilfe has what you are looking for – gorgeous pickled hot peppers – another post in German.

Ulrike from Küchenlatein offers sweet-and spicy Asian gherkins with white balsamic vinegar and curry – a lovely treat with new flavors – or rather old ones, since the recipes is from a very old heritage cookbook.

The Carrot and Ginger Chutney with Almonds Sus prepares at Corum Blog sounds similarly delicious, and so do the Pickled gherkins with dill.

Which I’ll use as my clue to chime in with another variety of dilled pickled cucumbers the old-fashioned way like ye olde NY deli will make them – by lacto-fermentation instead of using vinegar.

The most colorful entry of all is from Petra at Chili & Ciabatta. I don’t like beets but her Pickled Baked Beets look to-die-for.

Las but not least I have made Corn Relish for this event, which will hopefully come in handy when I am planning this year’s Thanksgiving feast.

Thank you all for participating and for your great ideas and recipes – and happy pickling!
